Better Transport Links Needed for Cowal

Cowal is suffering from Scottish Government neglect of its transport links. The passenger ferries between Dunoon and Gourock town centres are not up to the job and the Rest and Be Thankful was closed for most of August due to another landslide.

Alan Reid has called on the Scottish Government to build new ferries for the Dunoon-Gourock route and implement a solution which stops landslides blocking the A83 at the Rest & Be Thankful.

He says, "The Scottish Government should replace the unreliable 'bathtub boats' now, not just give vague promises of new boats several years in the future.

"They should also implement one of the four solutions from the 2012 Jacobs Report which would make the risk of a landslide blocking the A83 a negligible one.

"We need action NOW on the vital transport links".
