Budget Proposal lowers Electricity Bills

Alan Reid MP has welcomed the move within the 2015 Budget which will bring a windfall for electricity bills in the former Scottish Hydro area.

Budget papers include a move which will see: 'the government consult on reducing electricity distribution costs for consumers in the North of Scotland, to ensure that they pay no more for electricity distribution than consumers in the next most expensive region. The government estimates that this could save an average household in the North of Scotland around £30 per year on their electricity bill'.

Mr Reid said: "This is good news for customers in the former Scottish Hydro area; it puts right an anomaly created when the electricity boards were privatised.”

NOTE: The area covered is the former Scottish Hydro area which covers all of Argyll & Bute except Helensburgh & the surrounding area which was in the Scottish Power area.
