Dunoon Bathtubs - more problems

A calm day on the Clyde, yet for part of the day one of the Argyll Ferries ‘bathtubs’ wasn't able to sail due to a ‘technical issue’. High time the SNP gave passengers on the Dunoon-Gourock route a reliable service. Remember they promised us two new vehicle/passenger ferries, then gave us the bathtubs.

Reid criticises abolition of HIE Board

Alan Reid says, "The SNP decision to abolish the governing board of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is the end for special economic development in the Highlands and Islands. HIE will now become simply a branch office of the Scottish government. There will be no board to provide a unique Highlands and Islands focus - instead there will be top down centralised control from Edinburgh."

"For the past 50 years, starting with the Highlands & Islands Development Board, there has been a board with local knowledge to drive economic development in the Highlands & Islands. This latest SNP centralisation is bad news for the Highlands & Islands."

REID CALLS FOR FARMERS TO BE PAID ON TIME

Farming is an important element in the Argyll & Bute economy, and farmers must have the right to receive their Common Agricultural Policy payments on time. Alan Reid has backed calls for answers from SNP Ministers over delays to agricultural support payments. These payments should have been made last year, but most payments are late and some won’t be paid until April.
Alan Reid says, “The SNP had 18 months and spent £180 million on a computer to pay farmers before Christmas.  They have failed. This comes on top of another embarrassing Scottish Government computer failure at NHS24.”

It's time for change in Argyll & Bute

I am very pleased that the local Liberal Democrats have selected me to contest next May’s Holyrood Election.

Following on from the increase in our vote and clear second place at last May’s election, the Liberal Democrats are best placed to challenge the SNP and bring about the change that Argyll & Bute so badly needs.
