REID WELCOMES COUNCIL DECISION TO RE-ASSESS ARDRISHAIG PUPILS’ WALKING ROUTE TO SCHOOL
Alan Reid MP has welcomed Argyll & Bute Council’s decision to re-assess the route that school children have to walk from Ardrishaig to the new Lochgilphead High School.
The Council had refused to pay the pupils’ bus fares because they consider the A83 to be a safe walking route. Alan Reid has backed local parents and pupils because the route is too long and dangerous for pupils to walk from Ardrishaig to the school.
Alan Reid submitted to the Council a detailed analysis of why the walk is too long and dangerous for the pupils to walk to the school.
Mr Reid said, “I am pleased that the Council have decided to re-assess the waking route. I believe the Council should accept that the route is too long and dangerous to expect pupils to walk to and from the school every day and they should pay Ardrishaig pupils’ bus fares.”
