REID WELCOMES PROPOSAL FOR VIDEO LINK FOR PASSPORT INTERVIEWS IN OBAN

Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, welcomed the Government’s proposal for a video link to enable interviews with first time passport applicants to be held in Oban.

Mr Reid was speaking after a meeting with Passport Minister Meg Hillier at which the video link proposal was agreed. The video link is subject to a suitable location being found in Oban for the interviews.

Mr Reid said, “I welcome the video link proposal. I am sure that a suitable office will be found in Oban. I would have preferred the Oban passport office to have stayed open, but, a video link is the next best thing and will prevent first time passport applicants from Oban having to travel to Lochgilphead for their interviews.”

NOTE: The Oban passport office is used to conduct interviews for people applying for their first passport. In December, the Government decided to close it because not enough people were using it.
