REID CALLS ON BANK OF SCOTLAND TO RETHINK DECISION TO MAKE ARGYLL & BUTE BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP MANAGERS REDUNDANT

Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, called on the Bank of Scotland to re-think its decision to make its Argyll & Bute Business Relationship managers redundant.

Concerned Islay businesses have called a public meeting in Bowmore at 7.30pm on Monday 9 November to discuss this.

REID CALLS ON CMAL TO ADD ‘ISLE OF ISLAY’ TO LIST OF NAMES ON BALLOT FOR NEW ISLAY FERRY

Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute has called on Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) to add ‘Isle of Islay’ to the list of options on the ballot for the name of the new Islay ferry. He has written to Guy Platten, CMAL’s Managing Director, pointing out that it is clear that many islanders prefer this name to any of the four names put forward by CMAL.

Following news that Mid Argyll Swimming Pool may be forced to close in December because of lack of funds, Alan Reid MP called on Argyll & Bute Council to step in and rescue the pool.

REID WELCOMES GOVERNMENT CLIMBDOWN, BUT SAYS ONE NIGHT A MONTH TA TRAINING NOT ENOUGH

Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, has welcomed the Government climbdown on Territorial Army (TA) training.
 
Earlier this month, the Government had announced the suspension of TA weekend exercises and other training for the next six months in a bid to save money. Alan Reid had written to Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth MP urging him to re-consider this decision.
