Good debate at the NFUS (National Farmers Union Scotland) hustings in Oban last night. The most important matter discussed was the failure of the Scottish Government’s computer to pay farmers the Common Agricultural Policy payments they are due.
Millions of pounds down the drain on a wasted computer system and farmers and other rural businesses left facing cash flow problems. Payments must be made as quickly as possible and an inquiry set up to learn lessons and make sure this never happens again. Thanks to NFUS for organising the hustings and to John Dickson for so ably chairing it. Photo shows Alan Reid and John Dickson.
