Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat candidate for Argyll & Bute, called on the Scottish Government, BT and mobile phone companies to improve their coverage in Argyll & Bute.
He said, “In many parts of Argyll & Bute, the broadband speed is painfully slow. As part of the UK coalition Government, the Liberal Democrats secured millions of pounds for Scotland to get the roll out of superfast broadband underway, but the SNP Government have been dragging their feet on delivering it.
“The SNP have failed Argyll & Bute on this. We lag behind other similar rural and island areas such as the Highlands, Orkney and Shetland.
"Mobile phone coverage is also poor in many places. Last year, as the local MP,I got the Scottish Affairs Select Committee to mount an inquiry into this and questioned Vodafone before the Committee. However when the SNP took over the Committee after the General Election, they dropped this inquiry.
“I will keep campaigning until the whole of Argyll & Bute can receive superfast broadband and mobile phone coverage.”
