Reacting to the Scottish Government promise of two new boats for the Dunoon-Gourock route, Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat candidate for Argyll & Bute said,
“Before the 2007 Election, the SNP promised to build two new vehicle ferries for the Dunoon-Gourock route. They didn’t.
“Before the 2011 Election, the SNP promised that they were committed to the continuation of the vehicle/passenger service on the Dunoon-Gourock route. Just after the Election, they gave us the ‘bathtub boats’.
“For this year's Election, the SNP are again promising new boats for the route. Why should anyone believe them this time?
“I have consistently fought for ferries for Dunoon-Gourock that are up to the job. Dunoon needs an MSP who will fight for new ferries, not the SNP which gave us the 'bathtub boats'.”
