Alan Reid has repeated called on the Scottish Government to build more new ferries
The unfinished ships at Port Glasgow are testimony to the complete shambles of the SNP’s ferry replacement programme.
Many ferry routes desperately need new ferries. For example the Dunoon-Gourock route where the small, unreliable ferries are known locally as the “bathtub boats”.
12 years ago Alan warned that, unless a programme of ferry construction were started soon, in several years’ time the ageing CalMac ferries would be breaking down regularly. The SNP Government failed to act on Alan's warning. It's high time they sped up vessel construction.
